Programme Size
The Award was first offered in 1998 to a trial group of 12 participants. The trial was successful and the Programme gradually grew until by 2004 over 650 participants had received the Award. In that year The Mark Scott Foundation and The Outward Bound Trust decided to increase the number of participants and the number of Schools taking part. They agreed to target delivery of Phase 2 of the Award as follows:

Many funders are especially interested to see the Award developed in specific areas. An example where this has happened is in Ayrshire and in 2006/07 12 participants from Schools in Kilmarnock took part.
