Overview
Funding is the life blood of the Programme and we are very fortunate to have strong and enduring relationships with a number of core funders. Many of our funders support the Award generally. Others prefer to link their support with development and delivery of the Programme in specific areas of the country. For example, The Moffat Charitable Trust have a special interest in supporting activities in Ayrshire and we have therefore agreed with the Trust that their funds will be used to make the Award available to participants in that area. From 2006/07 thanks to support from The Moffat Charitable Trust participants from Kilmarnock have taken part in the Programme each year.
We are also fortunate to receive funding in kind, for example, Word of Mouth Communication design and pay for production of many of our written materials including our 2007 Annual Report and the law firm McGrigors LLP provides support and administration services including mentoring, presentation skills, training and drafting written materials.
Additionally, we are delighted to receive funding from many other individuals and organisations - any
donation is most welcome.
Leadership for Life - overview of programme
The Programme has been independently evaluated by John Dalgety, formerly Director of Corporate Strategy at Scottish & Newcastle plc and is monitored constantly by School champions, The Mark Scott Foundation and The Outward Bound Trust. These processes have demonstrated that the Programme is unique and very beneficial to participants, Schools and local community projects.
The Mark Scott Foundation and The Outward Bound Trust have recognised there is a strong need and demand for the Programme and in 2004 decided to launch Phase 2 of the Award. The principal objectives are set out in the following table.
